The Florida Family Association, a wingnut group if ever there was one, was out in full bedsheet paraphernalia this week as it pressured home-improvement giant Lowe’s into cancelling its ads on a TLC show called “All-American Muslim.”
“All-American Muslim” was a program developed by TLC to combat religious bigotry and demonstrate that the average American Muslim is, deep down inside, no different from the average American.
It was meant to be a sociological exploration of the Muslim reality in Amerikkka
that might help allay the irrational fears some Americans harbour toward Muslims.
But the Florida Family Association and its executive director, David Caton, were having none of it.
As anxious as any of their KKKristian kkkonservative allies to nip anything in the bud that might promote inter-religious and inter-racial tolerance, the Flordia Family Association jumped into action.
Threatening a massive national boycott by KKKristian kkkonservatives against Lowe’s, the hardware honcho was instantly cowed.
Much to its discredit, however, Lowe’s had neither the gumption nor the integrity to just come out and point the finger where it should have been pointed – at extreme-right-wing wingnut David Caton and his phony charity, the Florida Family Association.
Instead, Lowe’s sheepishly lied that it was bowing to pressure from the general public, alleging that “issues (were) raised by a wide spectrum of customers.”
The grassroots group Anonymous got it right when it responded by hacking the Florida Family Association’s website and shutting it down – albeit only for a few hours.
The alleged “wide spectrum of customers” that Lowe’s referred to was merely a figment of its own acid-drenched imagination.
The only significant complainant against the potentially positive portrayal of American Muslims was the Florida Family Association – a KKKristian kkkonservative front dedicated to serving the Top One Percent by fomenting racism, misogyny (the hatred of women), homophobia and other forms of rank bigotry among the the Other 99 Percent in order that the masses – the poor, the working class and the middle class – will remain divided against themselves rather than united against the common enemy – the millionaires, mega-millionaires, billionaires and mega-billionaires who have stolen so much from so many over the past three decades.
The Florida Family Association deserves to be stripped of its legal status as a tax-exempt charity for promoting hatred. And Lowe’s should be boycotted by all good Americans as a way of pushing back at evil Amerikkkans.
