The OECD (the 30-nation Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) has just predicted Canada’s jobless rate will hit 10 percent before the end of this year, with another 235,000 Canadians thrown out of work.
This, of course, is despite the assurances of establishment politicians, economists and corporate mass-media pundits that the recession is now over.
Tell that to the more than 1.8 million Canadian workers who will be officially unemployed by the end of 2009. Tell that to the 200,000 “discouraged” workers who are not even included in the official jobless count. Tell that to the 900,000 workers toiling part-time or temp because they can’t find the full-time jobs they so desperately need. read more »
