Today will be my personal Judgment Day

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

After more than five years of trying, today will be the day the Ministry of the Attorney-General for Ontario – Canada’s largest province – will attempt to complete its effort to strip me of my human and constitutional rights and deny me any further access to the courts of justice in my native country.
The campaign to have me declared “incompetent” to exercise my most basic rights – guaranteed under both the Ontario Human Rights Charter and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms – was actually begun by a corrupt $1,000-an-hour lawyer, Jamie Dunbar, of the giant Toronto law firm of Fraser Milner Casgrain after I had the audacity to file a lawsuit against two so-called “charities” that were violating the human rights of disabled persons.
The Ontario government’s interest came into play because the two so-called “charities” – Ontario March of Dimes and Leads Employment Agency – are evil favourites of the government which receive government contracts to provide services to disabled persons and exploit the unpaid labour of these clients to generate revenue to pay the six-figure salaries of their executives.
Although these “charities” are part of the so-called non-profit sector, the exorbitant salaries they pay their executives – all drawn from the top one percent – ensure that these “charities” will not register a profit. Continue reading “Today will be my personal Judgment Day”

Canada backsliding on global warming

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

The sorry Tory Canadian federal Environment Minister, Peter Kent, revealed yesterday that Canada will withdraw from its Kyoto Accords commitments on climate change – commitments that have been ignored since they were first made.
The fact that Canada even made its initial commitments set it apart from the U.S., which refused from the start even to entertain the idea of making commitments to the world to reduce its enormous contribution to global warming.
In Amerikkka, the purchasing of politicians by banks and corporations is much more forthright. Totally dependent on the banks and corporations to finance their exorbitantly expensive election campaigns, the first quid pro quo is made even before a politician gets elected to office.
And these politicians – through their infernal dependence on corporate financing – remain on the unofficial corporate payrolls throughout their time in office. Continue reading “Canada backsliding on global warming”

Running scared of a little real democracy?

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

The top one percent – the billionaires and millionaires who have stolen or destroyed almost everything worth stealing or destroying – appear to be running scared from the current display of mass democracy being witnessed around the world.
No, the socioeconomic elite have not suddenly agreed to give up their illicit and criminal stranglehold on wealth, income and power in North America but they are certainly taking steps to nip the democratic uprising in the bud.
In city after city, across both the U.S. and Canada, the puppet political prostitutes of the top one percent are rigidly enforcing unconstitutional municipal bylaws and ordinances to clear the peaceful protesters – all courageously demanding an end to the corrupt and criminal corporate capitalist agenda that is rapidly decimating the masses – the poor, the working class and even the middle class – from “public” parks and squares.
These local pols and their Gestapo In Blue are pulling all the stops in their efforts to protect the immoral privileges of the pampered few. Continue reading “Running scared of a little real democracy?”

The good side of Col. Muammar Kadhafi

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

There can be no denying that deposed and assassinated Libyan strongman Col Muammar Kadhafi was a brutal and repressive leader who terrorized his opponents. But it also cannot be denied that there was a good side to the man who ruled the North African country for 42 years.
True, the Colonel brooked no opposition and was very sparing in allowing his own people basic freedoms. True, his public behaviour was often erratic, sometimes even bizarre.
But he was also a leader who – in socioeconomic terms – took good care of the bottom 99 percent of the Libyan people – the poor, the working class and the middle class, unlike his counterparts in the U.S. and Canada and most western European countries. Whither Canada’s ‘public’ broadcaster?

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

Faux News North – Sun TV – and the megalomaniac president of its parent company – Quebecor Inc. – have gone on an all-out rampage against Canada’s “public” broadcaster, the CBC, in recent weeks and there is a danger to the Canadian public in what they are trying to achieve.
Quebecor, which – among other things – owns more Canadian daily newspapers than anyone else, is campaigning to have the extreme right-wing federal government of Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper abolish the CBC’s government subsidy on the spurious grounds that the subsidy is no longer justified.
According to Quebecor and the rest of Canada’s lunatic right-wing fringe, the reason the subsidy is no longer justified is because the country’s private broadcasters are offering Canadians a wide variety of viewing alternatives.
The only problem with that false and self-serving assertion is that all of Canada’s private broadcasters are right-wingers and the variety of news and information programming they offer is all right-wing. Continue reading “Whither Canada’s ‘public’ broadcaster?”

When will we humans finally figure it out?

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

The world’s population topped seven billion just a few days ago and, in North America, the top one percent are marking the occasion by deploying their Gestapo police forces across the continent to dismantle the encampments of the peaceful Occupy-ers who are working for a better world.
In cities across the U.S. and Canada, the Gestapo In Blue are forgetting that they too are part of the 99 percent and instead are wilfully breaching the constitutions they have all sworn an oath to uphold, in order to do the grubby bidding of the criminal socioeconomic elite – the millionaires, mega-millionaires, billionaires and mega-billionaires who already own almost everything worth owning.
That the actions of the po-lice may in fact be unconstitutional does not seem to bother any of these idiots in uniform.
At almost all the malevolent shutdowns of Occupy-er camps, almost all of the violence has been committed by not the protesters but the police. Their brutality has known no bounds. Continue reading “When will we humans finally figure it out?”

What happened to our so-called ‘democracy’?

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

“When it was the Arab Spring, they were heroes,” goes the RT-TV promo of its coverage of the Occupy uprisings. “But as the American Autumn unfolds, they are mocked and misrepresented.”
What description of officialdom’s response to the Occupy movement – the movement of the bottom 99 percent of the population – the poor, the working class and the middle class – across Canada and the U.S. could possibly be more apt?
Fascist mega-billionaire New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg made his move in the middle of the night last night, dispatching his Gestapo In Blue to dismantle the encampment in Wall Street’s Zuccotti Park – the very first Occupy Wall Street assembly.
The brutal police assault on the mostly sleeping, peaceful protesters is, alas, being echoed in cities across both Amerikkka and Canada. Continue reading “What happened to our so-called ‘democracy’?”

Oh joy! Quebec gets a new political party

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

Quebecers woke up this morning to the ugly news that La Belle Province has a new right-wing provincial political party that could actually win the next Quebec election – slated for next year.
The Coalition For Quebec’s Future is a so-called “centre-right” party headed by popular former social democrat and former Parti Quebecois cabinet minister Francois Legault.
Legault, who quit party politics in 2009 to begin setting forth his new political vehicle, has profited largely from the institutional corruption of the ruling, supposedly “centrist” Liberal Party, the collapse of the right-wing Action Democratique du Quebec and the turmoil surrounding Pauline Marois, the beleaguered leader of the social democratic – and sovereignist – Parti Quebecois.
In announcing the formal launch of his new party, Legault vowed that the Coalition For Quebec’s Future would “fight corruption.” The only problem with that, however, is that any so-called “centre-right,” “right-wing” or “centrist”political party is – in essence – based on corruption. Keystone XL pipeline must be aborted

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

Sometime very soon, United States President Barack Obama will have to make one of the most crucial decisions of his presidency and the odds are that that he will choose the option that will benefit the billionaire oil barons at the expense of everyone else.
The Keystone XL pipeline is, of course, a proposed U.S.-Canadian pipeline that would that would haul heavy oil from Alberta’s environmentally-horrific Tar Sands across six Amerikkkan states to the Gulf of Mexico.
From an American perspective, from a Canadian perspective, and from a global perspective, the consequences of construction of the pipeline would be catastrophic. Continue reading “Keystone XL pipeline must be aborted”

Puppets of the 1% hassling ‘Occupy’-ers

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

The medium-sized right-wing hellhole city of London, Ontario, – where I reside – last night became the first city in Canada to have its cops tear down the tent city of the “Occupy”-ers.
And right-wing ex-federal Liberal ward- healer Mayor Joe Fontana was hot off the mark this morning to praise his cops for being so “respectful” of the protesters while dismantling their tents.
Like the mayors and city councillors of a few other Amerikkkan and Canadian cities, Fontana and London city council used obnoxious and anti-democratic municipal bylaws for cover as they flagrantly and dutifully did the job of serving the vested interests of their real masters – the top one percent.
Clearly, the top one percent are becoming somewhat perturbed at a national/global mass uprising that dares to challenges their illicit power and privileges. Continue reading “Puppets of the 1% hassling ‘Occupy’-ers”
