Which way will Barack Obama go now?

The American president must now choose between the corporate elite and the masses.

The voters of supposedly ultra-liberal Massachusetts yesterday delivered a stinging rebuke to U.S. President Barack Obama – the wayward agent of “change we need” and “change we can believe in.”
By electing Republican Scott Brown to fill the senate seat left vacant by the death of the great Ted Kennedy, these “true-Blue” New Englanders sounded the final death knell for any kind of meaningful health-care reform.
Oh, sure, Obama will pressure House Democrats to now pass the ludicrous senate bill on health-care reform, but it would be worse than doing nothing. All it would mean would be a new windfall of sordid profits for the very health-insurance corporations that caused the health-care crisis in the first place through their wanton greed, corruption and malevolence.

What America owes poor devastated Haiti

Who really believes Haiti can be rebuilt for $100 per capita?

There is a tiny orgy of giving going on
– in the U.S., as in much of the rest of the world – to help rebuild devastated Haiti in the wake of its catastrophic earthquake.
From what I have been able to gather, the total of all donations so far – from both governments and private individuals – totals somewhere in the range of $500 million U.S. The final tally will probably come in somewhere between one billion and two billion dollars or somewhere between $100 and $200 per Haitian.
This is a country that has been literally on the ropes for generations. Deforestation, a near-total lack of natural resources, and more than 100 years of malevolent American interference have long since turned it into a human wasteland.

Chevron and, more importantly, Venezuela, set to dominate world oil exploration

The socialists' oil company may come to dominate production.

U.S. fear mongers beware, Venezuela’s oil exploration and marketing giant, Chevron is leading the pack in deepe- sea oil exploration. And you will be left in the dust.
You can whine and complain, but all reluctantly.
Chevron is exploring in previously unexplorable depths of up to 4300 feet of water ,all the while drilling through 5 miles of rock. This goes along with my long held belief that oil is anaerobic, a self-replicating, self-rejuvenating phenomenon that we will never be short of. A substance we will retrieve as long as we work for it. Drill farther and deeper. Plate tectonics dictate that the continental plates, ( huge bodies of sinkable rock! ) float slowly around the globe slowly, changing the face of our present-day maps.
