A captive sex slave for 18 years, Jaycee Lee Dugard is finally free.By Mike Bodrogkozi
WRISEUP.COM

Wow, great, more news this week of yet another child abduction back in the news. It’s the story of Jaycee Dugard of Antioch, California and this one fortunately has a happy ending. Or does it??
The story begins when she was 11 years old and she was abducted in plain view of her own father at the end of their driveway. A known sex offender had grabbed her with the aid of his own wife and managed to keep her hostage for the last 18 years only miles from her original home.
They managed to keep her there for all those years while drawing the attention of no one even while he had sex offender status for an unrelated charge. He then used the young girl as a sex slave and fathered 2 of her children, now 11 and 15 years old.

Kennedy’s death darkens the whole world

The American liberal lion tried to make the world a better place.

The death of United States Senator Ted Kennedy – the liberal lion of the senate – marks a tragic loss not only for America but also for the world.
Kennedy was a man born into great wealth who could easily have done what most rich American men do – build a career based on his own further personal enrichment.
But Ted Kennedy was not that kind of man. Instead, he devoted his life from a very young age to championing the cause of the underdog, to making minorities, people of colour, the poor and the entire working class less of an afterthought in American politics, and to making the world a better place for all.

Obama’s 200+ days of failed ‘change’

Is Obama a man of the people or an establishment Oreo?
Is Obama a man of the people or an establishment Oreo?

United States President Barack Obama rode to power on a fervent promise of “change we can believe in.” But if his first 200+ days are any indication, he is either a total failure or a total fraud.
Obama promised to close the Guantanamo concentration camp. But he has not.
Instead, he has tried to recruit the rest of the world to deal with the detainees who are released. But the detainees – many of them innocent scapegoats – are America’s problem, not the world’s. If there is sufficient evidience to prosecute any of them in a fair trial, he should do so. And in the cases where there is no evidence of criminality, they should be released into the U.S. It was America that made them pariahs in their own lands.
Obama promised to end the so-called War on Terror. While there are plans to withdraw some tropps from Iraq over the next couple of years, the American president is planning on re-deploying those mentally-shell-shocked tropps to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Death for douchebags is best when served up by their own hand

Should bloodthirsty douchebags all hang themselves?

For those of you who bother committing heinous, brutal crimes please pay attention.
Your new mentor has just shown you what to do with yourselves. His name is/was Ryan Jenkins.
The story began with a reality show, in which a roomful of single women competed for the affections of a rich man. Shortly thereafter, a beautiful porcelain-faced model and actress named Jasmine Fiore fell in love with Ryan, who would eventually become her killer.
She had fallen madly for him and announced to her family members that she had met the most amazing man. I also think he’s amazing, for reasons which I’ll name later.

No public option = No health-care reform

By Henry McRandall WRISEUP.COM Just months after declaring it an absolute necessity, United States President Barack Obama is now waffling on the issue of a public option in his health-care reform bill. But the simple reality is that without at least a public option, Obama’s health-care reform package will be no reform at all. It…

What is with these 10-year-olds with huge boobs??

Recently on a trip to the grocery store I had an incident that left me feeling a little more than uncomfortable, and even more confused.
It started with a question about juice, and ended with me feeling like I couldn’t even look at the girl trying to explain the mix-up.
What had happened was I had gone in to claim one of my prizes from the flyer, juice that was on sale, and when you get the chance, I recommend saving the money on expensive groceries whenever possible. This juice was less than half price and made me salivate at the savings.
But upon finding the shelf empty, I had to call on someone to check the back stockroom for more or give me a rain check for the item.
What I got for a response was a girl with huge breasts who appeared to be about 10 years old. ( I’m sure she was at least 14 but god damn, she did look young!!)

American oligarchy doing just fine, thanks

A just-released study by UC Berkeley economics professor Emmanuel Saez has confirmed WRISEUP.COM’s worst fears about the concentration of wealth in the U.S. and its dire effects on the rest of the population.
Professor Saez traced the annual concentration of wealth in the hands of the top 0.01% of the U.S. population from 1913 to 2007
and reported that the figures for 2007 showed this concentration to be 20 percent higher than the previous record – set in 1929.
That previous record of five percent of total national income concentrated in the hands of the top 0.01 percent of the population crippled the mass market and triggered the global Great Depression of the Dirty Thirties that could only be ended with the launch of World War II, a war that cost close to 100 million lives.
The new record of six percent of total U.S. income concentrated in the hands of the top 0.01 percent in 2007 triggered the current global recession-cum-depression. And that concentration of wealth has likely increased in the past two years.

A shocking revelation about the recession

Why are governments turning toxic assets into cold hard cash?
Why are governments turning toxic assets into cold hard cash?

WRISEUP.COM

I was shocked tonight, but not totally surprised, by the incredible revelation I witnessed on a rerun of a May, 2009, episode of CBC-TV’s The Passionate Eye.
Brian Stewart’s guest was internationally renowned Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto, the man responsible for many innovative economic experiments now being undertaken in a number of Third World countries.
De Soto revealed that the crux of the current global recession-cum-depression is the fact that ONE QUADRILLION DOLLARS in world wealth is unaccounted for, thanks to the derivatives peddled by financial institutions in recent years.
That’s right – ONE QUADRILLION DOLLARS or ONE THOUSAND TRILLION DOLLARS – is missing.

Canada shouldn’t kiss Dick Cheney’s butt

They say politics makes strange bedfellows and I really wouldn’t care to know what happens when Canadian Prime Moron Stephen Harper and former U.S. vice-president Dick Cheney find themselves alone between the sheets.
But as head of the Government of Canada, Harper should not be dragging the population through his political sexcapades with the most dangerous and deranged of right-wing lunatics.
An appeals court this week ordered the Harper Conservative government to immediately obey a lower court order to seek the return of Canadian former child soldier Omar Khadr, the youngest of the illegal detainees at the Guantanamo hellhole.

Broadbent urges ‘social democratic moment’

Ex-NDP leader Ed Broadbent wants a more "caring, sharing" society.
Ex-NDP leader Ed Broadbent wants a more "caring, sharing" society.

By Henry McRandall
WRISEUP.COM

Former federal NDP leader Ed Broadbent stepped out of retirement for one brief moment today to urge his party and all Canadians to opt for a “social democratic moment.”
The highly respected former top New Democrat led his party to its greatest ever electoral success and highest level of public support,
Broadbent urged delegates to the NDP’s national convention in Halifax to “behave like a social democratic party” and abandon their long march toward the “centre” (read: “right.”)
The great irony, of course, is that the former leader’s words came just a day after current federal NDP leader Jack Layton acknowledged that his party intended to make a strong pitch for the votes of “centrist” voters in the general election expected as early as this fall.
(It was Layton who urged Broadbent to break his own rule of leaving centre stage to the party’s current leader.)
Can the two seemingly disparate goals – of returning to social democracy and of appealing to centrist voters – both be pursued at the same time?
